Photometrics® Launches Next Generation Scientific CCD Cameras for Lower Light Levels

Photometrics introduces the CoolSNAP™ MYO and the CoolSNAP™ KINO CCD cameras, the newest members of the popular CoolSNAP camera line. Designed to discern finer details in biological samples under lower light levels, the MYO and KINO enable scientists to achieve higher quality, higher resolution images than previous CCD technology.

With standard scientific CCD sensor technology, researchers are currently limited to 1.4 megapixel imaging with 65% quantum efficiency. Packing twice as many pixels (2.8M) with a 15% improvement in peak quantum efficiency (75%), these cameras visualise much finer details at much higher sensitivity. Photometrics is the first and only camera company to offer this new sensor technology.

Upgrade Your Nikon Inverted Microscope for Super-Resolution Imaging

STochastic Optical Reconstruction Microscopy, or STORM is a super-resolution technique, developed at Harvard University, which allows scientists to image well below the diffraction limit of conventional optical microscopes. STORM relies on the sequential, stochastic activation of fluorescently labelled photo-switchable dyes to provide precise localisation of multiple single molecules within specimens at densities approaching those commonly employed in wide-field and confocal fluorescence microscopy.

Typical spatial resolution achieved using STORM imaging is of the order of 20nm in X and Y and approximately 50nm in the axial Z-dimension. Nikon’s approach to STORM is such that most Nikon (inverted) wide-field or confocal microscopes can be upgraded, at the customer site, to STORM imaging capability making this a cost effective way to enhance and further utilise your initial microscope investment.

We currently have a Nikon Ni-E advanced upright research microscope available for trial in your laboratory. This motorised version in the new Ni series (Ni-U is the manual version) incorporates a revolutionary modular design that allows easy expansion and precise system customisation. New Manager

We are pleased to welcome back Andrew Masters to our team, as Manager of our Microscopy Division. Andrew worked for Coherent Scientific for six years in the late 90's, before heading to California and working for Coherent Inc, and then Veeco (now owned by Bruker Corporation). 5 Year Warranty on LED Light Source

Nikon recently released new LED microscope models Eclipse Ci for routine and Pathology; E100 and E200 basic upright microscopes and TS100 inverted microscopes. These systems have LED illumination light sources with a lifetime of 60,000 hours. We are pleased to now provide an extended five year warranty from date on invoice for the LED light source in the microscopes above. New Solid State, Manual, White Light Illuminator

Lumencor manufactures the life science market's only solid state, white light, arc lamp replacement in the SOLA light engine. Now their newest product is designed to maintain the performance of the original SOLA light engine while simplifying use and reducing cost. Introducing the new SOLA SM light engine, providing continuous white light (380-680nm), is now available at the flick of a switch.
